Reserva Natural Los Flamencos, Laguna Chaxa

Great views of the Atacama desert, on the right the oasis of Toconao

Peine and the church with the stairs made of cactus wood.

Quebrada de Jere

The slope up to border to Argentina

Laguna de Cejar - like the Dead Sea in Israel

It was a great feeling to float in this super-salty water.

We left at 9 am directly to Laguna Chaxa (Reservation Nacional "Los Flamencos") where the flamingos and many other birds come to feed and nest in the salty lakes (entrance fee 2500 pesos pax). Drive South to Peine where we saw some amazing geoglyphs on the outer Walls of a cave located in a canyon above Peine. Back to Toconao where we had lunch in a simple restaurant and where lucky to assist to a local Carnival celebration. On the outskirts of Toconao there is a canyon that bears a fertile valley, the Quebrada de Jere which we visited as well (1500 plc pax). On our way back to San Pedro we stopped at the Laguna de Cejar and bathed in the super salty water (2000 plc pax). Great dinner with pastel de choclo, empanadas, palta at La Casona again.
