27.02.- 28.02.02: Norderstedt - Nordheim - Breisach am Rhein, Germany
We left home on Feb. 27th and drove down to Volker's parents who live in Nordheim (nearby Worms) in about 8 hours (580 km). The next day we left in the afternoon and drove down to Breisach am Rhein which lies as its name shows right on the Rhein river. Across the river is France. It's a nice place to stay with your RV. An evening stroll up to the cathedral and through the small streets of this small town was the last activity of the day.

01.03. - 04.03.02: Besançon - Louhans - Fleurie - Vallon Pont d'Arc - Montagnac (France)
What a beautiful day -we thought this morning. After crossing over to France we drove south to Besançon. And then it happened: a beautiful new Mercedes which tried to pass us in a roundabout drove into our motorhome... Too bad. So we spent the next 2 hours filling in accident papers at the police station of Besançon. On our way to Louhans we got into heavy rains until Fleurie where we decided to spend the night -south of Macon. It's a Beaujolais winery and, of course, we tasted a few wines and bought 4 bottles. The wine grower had opened 3 bottles to do the tasting, one of which we got for free! You can image, our dinner was very special that evening. The rain didn't stop until next morning, though. The next day began with nice weather and ended again with rain. March 2nd was pretty much driving through Mâcon, Lyon, Valence, and at Loriol-sur-Drôme we decided to make a detour to Vallon Pont D'Arc at the Ardèche's Gorge. There is a good overnight place on the Place Allende and accross the street we delighted ourselves buying lots of good things at the supermarket Intermarché. Evening dinner with delicious pâtés and a Beaujolais Fleurie 1999. Today, 03.03., we decided to hike down to the Pont d'Arc -a giant natural bridge over the Ardèche River. The trail GR4 lead us first to the ruins of Vieux Vallon (= Old Vallon) then up to the limestone plateaus, where we walked through the typical garrigue landscape with its aromatical plants, like lavender, thyme and rosmarin. March 4 we wanted to reach Montagnac in South of France to visit Julia's mum and her husband Carlos. We took the longer road along the Ardèche gorge and had spectacular views over the canyon. We hiked a botanical trail (3 km) where on top of seeing a lot of typical plants we passed a menhir and a dolmen -both about 4.600 years old! Lunch with Bordeaux wine, fresh baguette and pâtés with a gorgeous view over the canyon and the Ardèche River. About 3,5 hours later we arrived in Montagnac.

01.03. - 04.03.02: Besançon - Louhans - Fleurie - Vallon Pont d'Arc - Montagnac (Frankreich)
