11.05.02: Tintagel
Drive from Land's End to Tintagel. Terri, Mike, and Volker went on an
hike along the coast path to Tintangel. In the evening, we enjoyed the
beautiful sunset in front of our motorhome. Our campground, the "Trewethett
Farm", belongs to the Caravan Club.

Campingplatz "Trewethett Farm" genossen.

12.05.02: Porlock Weir and Porlock
In the morning it was hard to leave this campground because of its
beautiful setting and the perfect weather. We had breakfast outside and
ate clotted cream and jam on scones (not bad at all) which is something
English people have with tea in tea-rooms that advertise "cream tea"
in the afternoon. Our drive to Porlock was the most difficult we ever had
so far in England: narrow roads, much traffic, and steep roads up with a
grade of up to 25 %!! This destination was chosen by Julia who wanted to
see what the Riding School where she spent the summer vacations 32 years
ago looks like. Actually, it has become the Porlock Vale House, a
high-class small exclusive hotel with riding school. We walked down to the
harbor of Porlock Weir and through Porlock and enjoyed the wonderful
weather. In the evening it began to rain, but we had a good time together
eating spaghetti.
12.05.02: Porlock Weir and Porlock
Spaghetti-Essen verbracht.

13.05.02: Bristol
Today is Volker's birthday and we began the day celebrating with a real
English chocolate and mint cake. Drive to Bristol, most of the time on the
motorway, which was very relaxing. We took the ferry from our campground
Baltic Wharf Caravan Club Site (£ 14,60) to downtown, passed the SS
Great Britain, the first large iron ship to be driven by a screw
propeller, built in 1843. A stroll through town -although all stores close
at 5 pm!- with a stop at Starbucks (Terri was so happy to find one over
here) concluded our visit of downtown. We walked back (about 30 min.) and
went to "The Cottage Inn" to celebrate Volker's 43rd birthday,
trying and sharing all the beers they had.
13.05.02: Bristol
Geburtstag im "The Cottage Inn" gebührend
gefeiert, dabei alle Biersorten des Pubs ausprobiert.
