April 4 - 7, 2003: Isla Cristina - Parque Natural
de Doñana - El Rocio - Manta Rota -
Our first exploration tour with our RV: we drove east to Spain and
visited the Parque Natural de Doñana which is a bird sanctuary.
Nearby is "El Rocio", a town famous for its once a year
pilgrimage (during ascencion).

Unsere erste Wohni-Reise ging nach Spanien zum Parque Natural de Doñana,
ein Schutzgebiet für seltenen Vögel. In der Nähe liegt El
Rocio, bekannt für sein Fest während der Pfingstfeiertage.

May 23 to 27, 2003: Rio Guadiana
Drive to Ayamonte where we visited our friends Monica and
Christian on their boat -they are living on their boat until their house
in Portugal is finished. We had a real good time together, went down to
Isla Canela for a swim and had a tasty tapas dinner on a beach bar. We
drove back to Portugal and spent the first night on the beach at Praia
Verde (Adão e Eva). On the next day, after doing some grocery
shopping in V.R. S. Antonio, Volker noticed that one tire was flat, so we
had to have it changed. It took the whole afternoon to have things
settled, and we had to have one new tire ordered, since the flat one
couldn't be repaired. We would have to wait until it comes to have a spare
tire. So we continued our trip without any spare tire. We drove the Rio
Guadiana up to Alcoutim, then west to Cachopo and visited the Moorish
Well, spending the night at a very quiet spot just 2 km from the entrance.
On the next day after visiting the site, we took a bath a a natural
swimming pool from a river nearby, drove to Cachopo where we had a good
lunch, then back towards Tavira to Manta Rota beach. On the last day we
got our new tire and were safe again.
23.-27.05.03: Rio Guadiana
Fahrt nach Ayamonte, wo wir unsere Freunde Monica und Christian
auf ihrem Schiff besucht haben. Sie leben dort, bis ihr Haus in Portugal
fertig gebaut ist. Wir haben uns gut unterhalten, sind dann noch zum
Schwimmen nach Isla Canela gefahren, danach haben wir gemeinsam an einem
Strandrestaurant einige Tapas gegessen. Wir haben uns am Abend
verabschiedet, sind dann zur Praia Verde, genau an den Adão-e-Eva-Strand
gefahren, wo wir dann auch übernachtet haben. Am nächsten Tag
bemerkte Volker nach einem Supermarktbesuch, dass wir einen Platten
hatten. In der Nähe fanden wir einen Reifenhandel, der allerdings den
ganzen Nachmittag an unserem Wohni gearbeitet hat. Da der Reifen nicht zu
reparieren war, musste ein Neuer bestellt werden. Erstmal waren wir also
ohne Ersatzreifen. Wir sind trotzdem unserem ursprünglichen Plan
gefolgt, dem Rio Guadiana, der Spanien von Portugal im Südosten
trennt, bis Alcoutim entlang zu fahren. Nach Alcoutim Richtung Westen mit
Besuch der Maurenminen bei Vaqueiros mit anschließendem Bad in einem
natürlichen Schwimmbad (Fluss). Danach nach Cachopo mit gutem
Mittagessen und runter nach Tavira. Übernachtung am
Manta-Rota-Strand. Am letzten Tag konnten wir mit unserem neuen Reifen und
somit mit Ersatzreifen zurück nach Hause fahren.
