This was a day to see Sanibel Island, an island near Fort Myers which we
visited already a few years ago. Therefore, we took a look again to see if
we still recognize anything. We visited again the Darling Wildlife Refuge
on the island, including a kayak tour through the mangrove area on a
signed kayak trail. In the evening Gaby and Glenn joined us for a very
nice japanese dinner.

Heute haben wir die Insel Sanibel wieder besucht.Wir waren schon einmal
vor 3 Jahren dort gewesen und neugierig, was sich alles verändert
hat. Natürlich besuchten wir das Darling Wildlife Refuge auf der
Insel, u. a. mit einer Kayak-Tour auf einem markierten Kayak-Pfad durch
die Mangroven-Landschaft. Abends besuchten wir zusammen mit Gaby und Glenn
ein gutes japanisches Restaurant.

Another nice day in Fort Myers. A visit to the Edison house, where Thomas
Alva Edison stayed during the winter months. After this very interesting
trip we drove to a Manatee viewing area along the river. In the evening we
had a lot of fun with Gaby and Glenn wo prepared a delicious chicken
dinner on the barbecue.

Ein weiterer schöner Tag in Fort Myers. Wir besuchten das Edison
House, die Winterresidenz von dem berühmten Erfinder Thomas Alva
Edison. Danach waren wir bei der Manatee-Aussichtsplatform am Fluss.
Abends haben Gaby und Glenn Hähnchen auf dem Grill zubereitet, und
wir hatten viel Spaß miteinander.

Glenn, Gaby, Volker, and our trumpetist neighbor -every morning at 7:15 am
he gave us a wake-up serenade- with his wife in front of Gaby and Glenn's
beautiful house in Fort Myers, Florida. / Glenn, Gaby, Volker und

Weckserenate bekommen - und seine Frau vor dem wunderschönen Haus von

We decided to visit Sea World in Orlando on our way back to Jacksonville,
so we left Fort Myers and drove to this famous Walt Disney City. There are
different spectacular shows just going on, and we tried to see as many as
possible.

leider Abschied von Gaby und Glenn und auf nach Orlando. Es gibt viele
spektakuläre Shows in Seaworld, und wir versuchten, soviele wie möglich
davon zu sehen.

10.03.01 Orlando, FL - Jacksonville, FL
On our drive back from Orlando to Jacksonville we stopped at St.
Augustine, a nice small city, actually the oldest city in the United
States. St. Augustine was founded by the Spaniards. We did a tour of the
fort, and the small copplestone covered street in the center of town. Upon
our arrival in Jacksonville, we stayed near the airport, dropped off our
car and got prepared for the early morning flight we have tomorow.

Auf unserer Fahrt zurück von Orlando nach Jacksonville haben wir St.
Augustine besucht, eine nette kleine Stadt südlich von Jacksonville.
Dies ist die älteste Stadt in den Vereinigten Staaten. St. Augustine
wurde von den Spaniern gegründet. Wir besuchten das Fort und die
kleinen kopfsteingepflasterten Straßen in der Stadtmitte. Danach
nach Jacksonville. Dort übernachteten wir auf Grund unseres frühen
Fluges in der Nähe vom Flughafen.

11.03.01 Jacksonville, FL - Atlanta, AL - Honolulu,
Hawaii
Our 6 a.m. flight made sure we had only a short night. Since we had many
hours of stopover in Atlanta, we visited the main attractions, the
headquarters of CNN and The World of Coca Cola. At CNN we were able to
glimpse into this famous TV station, even to take a look into the main
newsroom. Of course there was live broadcasting at this time out of this
room. At Coca Cola, everything imaginable in connection with Coca Cola was
displayed. It was even possible to drink as much as possible of all the
Coca Cola drinks worldwide, including all the different german flavours of
Fanta. In the afternoon our flight continued to Los Angeles and onwards to
Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii
11.03.01 Jacksonville, FL - Atlanta, AL - Honolulu,
Hawaii
Unser Flug um 6 Uhr morgens brachte uns eine nur kurze Nacht. Allerdings
hatten wir einige Stunden Aufenthalt in Atlanta. Also ab zu CNN und Coca
Cola. In der CNN-Zentrale war es möglich, im Rahmen einer geführten
Tour u. a. einen Blick in den Newsroom zu werfen, die Schaltzentrale von
CNN. Wir sahen dabei die Nachrichtensprecher in voller Aktion. Bei Coca
Cola konnte man die ganze Geschichte von Coca Cola verfolgen. Man konnte
dabei so viel Coca Cola trinken, wie man wollte. Allerdings konnte man
auch alle anderen Getränke von Coca Cola in sich reinstürzen, u.
a. die diversen Fanta-Getränke aus Deutschland. Am Abend dann der
Weiterflug nach Los Angeles und nach Hawaii.
